One-day #AllinforDavidson Challenge Secures More Than $708,200

More than 2,800 donors brought in over $708,200 for Davidson in a single day during the #AllinforDavidson challenge. The first 2,500 gifts earned a $60 match, and once the goal was met, another $100,000 was claimed. The total includes $250,000 in challenges plus all the gifts made by alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends.

“Yesterday’s success illustrates the Davidson family we talk and hear so much about,” said Brad Martin, associate vice president for development. “This college is more than a college to thousands and thousands of generous and loyal people, and they showed their passion for Davidson by going ‘all in.’ It’s an exciting place to be a part of every day, and days like yesterday are the very best kinds of days to be on this campus.”

#AllinforDavidson would not have been possible without the following individuals and families, who believed their challenge would be met head on: Bobby Bowers ’93; Jarred Cochran ’03; Meredith ’91 and Jay Harris ’90; Vincent Benjamin ’04; John McKinley ’65; Melissa Stewart ’89; Gary Long ’73; Mackey McDonald ’68; David and Connie Lowe, current parents; Bobby Vagt ’69; Pamela and Doug Grayson, current parents; Donnie Johnson ’00; Adam Gerstenmier ’05; Sharon Slade, current parent; John and Lisa McClure, past parents; Anne Wallace, past parent, and family; Laurie Mitchell and Brent Woods, current parents; and Laura and Daniel Boeckman, current parents.

“The results of yesterday’s challenge should not be surprising to anyone who knows about Davidson,” said Ben Ralston ’05, associate director of The Fund for Davidson. “This was an opportunity to join together and make a difference for an extraordinary place. I am proud to call Davidson my alma mater, and I am proud of the efforts of each person who decided to go #AllinforDavidson.”

For the last 12 years, Davidson has celebrated more than 59 percent alumni participation in giving through The Fund for Davidson. The current fiscal year ends June 30. Every gift counts toward the college’s $425 million Game Changers: Inspiring Leaders to Transform the World campaign, which launched in November 2014.

Today, Wednesday, May 20, 2015, is the All in for Davidson challenge! The one-day challenge kicked off at midnight and will wrap at 11:59 p.m., aiming to secure gifts from at least 2,500 donors through The Fund for Davidson.

Each gift made today receives a $60 match, and once 2,500 gifts are received, an additional $100,000 is claimed from the day’s challengers. In total, that means Davidson will receive $250,000 in challenge gifts plus all gifts made during the day.

“Today’s challenge is the perfect way to unite all Davidson alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends as we show our support by making a gift of any size,” said President Carol Quillen. “Going ‘all in’ means working together to take full advantage of the generosity of today’s amazing challengers. It’s about coming together for Davidson students and for the future of this extraordinary place. I’m all in for Davidson, and I hope you are, too.”
